About Us
History
The present house of worship was started in the latter part of 1881 and completed in October 1882. On October 1, 1882 an election was held for the purpose of electing trustees for the church. John C. Jones, David Hewitt, and Lorenzo Bennett were elected. At the same meeting those in attendance adapted the name of Pleasant Mound. On October 27, 1882 bro. J.C. Jones deeded the church lot to the board of trustees of the church as a gift from him to the church.
On the same day bro. Jones deeded two acres of ground to be used as a cemetery. It took the name of the church and has always been known as Pleasant Mound Cemetery. The two acres were considered to be worth $100.00 and three other men, David Hewitt, Lorenzo Bennett, and A. F. Spicer, joined with J. C. Jones, each sharing one-fourth of the cost of the land. The two acres were deeded for the cemetery purposes forever, subject to the control of the board of trustees of the Church of Christ worshipping at Pleasant Mound.
Beliefs
Since we are Christ’s purchased possession (Acts 20:28), we teach and worship only what He has prescribed for us in His inspired word (Jn. 4:24; Col. 3:17), which equips the saints for every good work (2 Tim. 3:16-17).
Patterning ourselves after the early church, a visitor will find us:

• Singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to praise God and His Son (Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16-17).

• Praying to God the Father through Jesus His Son (Jn. 16:23-24; 1 Tim. 2:5; Heb. 4:14-16).

• Partaking of the Lord’s Supper, involving the unleavened bread and fruit of the vine, as the Lord commanded (Matt. 26:26-28; Lk. 22:19-20, 29-30). We do this every Sunday as the early church did (Acts 20:7).

• Contributing monetarily by free will, with no percentage or quota, as God has blessed us that the work of the church may be accomplished (1 Cor. 16:1-2; 2 Cor. 8:1-24; 2 Cor. 9:1-15). Visitors are not expected to give.

• Studying the word of God by means of biblical preaching that glorifies God and His Son and edifies the body of Christ (Acts 20:7, 32).
